The long awaited Ashely Cole transfer has been completed. For his services, the Blues gave up want-away William Gallas and £5 million.

Financially, this is a great deal. Arsenal refused to budge from a £25 million valuation, so Gallas is now a £20 million player after a £6 million investment.

From a football perspective Cole should add additional width given the narrow formation employed against City.
